New Flounder Rules in Florida

The FWC has instituted new rules for the statewide Flounder Fishery.  The new flounder rules are a result of the FWC finding the population to be overfished.

The new regualations are set to take effect on Mach 1, 2021.

New Flounder Rules and Regulations

  • Minimum size limit will be increased from 12 inches to 14 incheds
    • Flounder are measured from tip of mouth the tip of pinched tail
  • The bag limit will now be 5 fish.  This is a reduction from 10 per person.
  • October 15 – November 30 will be a recreational closed season
  • All FWC flounder state regulations will be extended into federal waters.
  • New comercial rules have also been posted.
