Berkley Gulp Shrimp for Flounder

Flounder are one of the best tasting fish that can be caught from the Florida shores. Their white and flaky meat make them a VERY popular fish among anglers and one technique that has emerged as a successful one is using Berkley Gulp Shrimp on a 1/8th-1/4 jig head.

Technique

Thread the plastic shrimp on the jig, head first with the hook point coming out of the back. Cast the jig past an area that potentially holds flounder. Slowly jig the shrimp back through the strike zone. If any resistance is felt, allow the flounder a few seconds to get the lure into its mouth and then set the hook.

Tips:

  • If the hook is set with out giving the flounder time, the hook up ratio will be much lower
  • Many flounder are lost right at the waters edge. A landing net is suggested.
