Warm Water Causing Algae Bloom

Reports are coming in from around the state from fishermen and night time shrimpers alike that the waters around Florida are quite dirty.  The coloring for many of the areas is being caused by an algae bloom in the tidal waters.

The unseasonably warm waters, 8-10 degrees warmer than normal, are cause algae to grow much faster than it normally would this time of year.  Most of this algae is a single celled type, causing the water to appear dirty!

The waters should clear as soon as temperatures return to normal.
