Report: Sunglow Fishing Pier

With the recent reports of Flounder moving through the Central Florida area I decided today would be a good day to give the Sunglow Fishing Pier a shot.

Driving through Port Orange, I stopped at Donald’s Bait and Tackle.  I bought 2 dozen mud minnows and 2 dozen live shrimp.  I was stacking the deck in my favor!

I arrived at the pier just before sunrise.  Set up 2 rods, one with shrimp, one with mud minnows.  I placed them in my favorite spots and the wait was on!  And the wait continued!  It was a very slow morning, nothing was hitting for the first 2 hours.  The only thing that came over the rail on the entire pier was a small catfish caught a little deeper then I was fishing.

After the first 2 slow hours, the fish started to hit.  Unfortunately, they were almost exclusively catfish.  I caught about 10 of them, and I watch many others come over the rail.  The only
decent fish caught was a nice sized whiting that I caught about 30 minutes before calling it a day!

As they say, a bad day fishing is better than a good day working!
