The cooler surf waters brought on by winter has increased the whiting bite all around Florida’s Shores.
One of the most popular fish caught in the surf is the whiting. They are taste good, put up a decent fight (when matched against light tackle), and can be easily caught.
Equipment
- Any saltwater rated reel and rod combo
- 10-12 pound test line
- Double dropper rig with 2 #1 circle hooks
- Enough weight to hold bottom
Locations
- Whiting are found just behind the breaking waves
- Areas with deeper water close to the breaking waves hold more fish
Bait
- Fresh peeled shrimp
- Clams
- Sand fleas
